Encik Kartografi, the professional identity of Shahrul Azzim Abd Aziz represents an interdisciplinary journey from engineering into cartographic research, historical research, geospatial studies and consultancy. With a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering Technology (Hons.) in Environment and a Master of Business Administration, he combines technical, analytical and management expertise with a strong interest in cartography, geography, history, environment and spatial research. He is presented as the Founder and Principal Research Officer of ECRC Malaysia (Etiquity Cartographic Research Centre) as well as the Founder of a cartographic research and consultancy firm and Chairman of Persatuan Kartografi Melaka (Melaka Cartography Association).
He explores maps not merely as geographical representations but as valuable sources of historical and cultural knowledge, using cartography to investigate places, landscapes, territories, settlements, historical events and past civilisations.
